Being in nature makes us feel good. If you didn’t appreciate that before, you probably do much more now after the hard lockdown. And increasingly many scientific studies are showing just how – and how much – our health and being benefits from time spent in nature. From stress reduction to immune support and much much more (Click here for more details)
But here’s the thing: It’s not just about contact with nature; it’s the nature of the contact that matters.
And there are several vital pathways that we need to cultivate in order to unlock potential wellbeing benefits from time in nature. One of these is the way we notice – how and what we pay attention to.
So this walk – part sit, part play and part meditative meander – introduces some of these necessary practices or ‘nature nudges’ (‘life hacks’) that will help us enhance everyday nature awareness as a foundation for more durable health, wellbeing and resilience in tumultuous times.
COVID precautions like physical distancing are conducive with this activity, as much of it will be done solo and silent.
COST: R50, to Masiyembo Non-Profit that leads the walk (optional for low-income earners).
