We will put on our naturalist eyes as we amble around Keurbooms estuary, exploring its life and sharing stories about some of the delights and dynamics of this modest wetland area.
No special footwear required, although footwear that can get wet is recommended (unless you prefer to go barefoot)
Binoculars are useful if you like birding, especially waders and wetland species, but not essential to the activity.
COST: R20, to Masiyembo Non Profit that leads the walk.
BRING: Binoculars recommended, Coastal Scenery, Marine and Coastal Interest, Wildlife and Birding Interest, Flowers and Botanical Interest.
EXTRA NOTES: Easy – Mainly flat walking, on paths with good surfaces. No climbing, minimal or no steps. Leisurely – stopping often and taking it slowly.
DIRECTIONS: “Rietvlei Road, Plettenberg Bay.
Meet at the carpark at the Keurbooms Lagoon end of Rietvlei Road, Plettenberg Bay.
From Plett, take the N2 toward The Crags and turn right into Rietvlei Road (at the Quartet Hotel, after Goose Valley) which is situated directly across from Buco.
Drive all the way down Rietvlei Rd (which becomes a gravel road) to the carpark at the end. We will meet there just before 9am.
If the carpark is full, then additional parking is available under the pine trees on the left side of the road about 50m before the carpark.
