This is a hike in the Outeniqua mountains with an introduction to some of the Fynbos plants of the area. A chance to enjoy, the unique scenery of the Outeniqua mountains, to participate in some good uphill walking to the Tierkop Peak, from which we have a wonderful view of both Cradock and George Peaks. Along the way we will have a chance to look at some of the Fynbos plants, with time allowed for photography. The Hike is partly along a jeep track as well as a narrow mountain footpath. No children under 8 years.
COST: Recommended Donation – in support of trails in the Garden Route and the Walking Festival.
BRING: Bring your own lunch, Wear sturdy shoes, Hiking boots are required, bring your own first aid kit and warm Fleece/ wind protection.
EXTRA NOTES: The hike is roughly 5 Km of uphill, followed by 5Km of downhill. Allow 6 hours for the hike which includes a lunch stop as well as extra time to enjoy the Fynbos. Family Friendly, Forest Scenery and Flowers and Botanical Interest.
DIRECTIONS: At the main gate entrance to the Nelson Mandela University /outside GEORGE. The University entrance is situated along the Seven Passes road. Best access is from George.
