Join us in having fun focusing and restoring our attention. How do we selectively use attention to shape our nature experiences? What do we see and what do we miss? Why does it matter? We will explore this and then some. This is more of a sit and stare than a walk and talk but we will move a bit, discuss our experiences and share tips for enhancing our everyday nature awareness.
No special footwear required. It is a marsh/wetland area so there might be some low-lying water, muddy sections or puddles to navigate or walk through. Barefoot is also ok, just be aware of sharp objects and human discards.
Binoculars are useful if you like birding, especially waders and wetland species, but not essential to the activity.
Please bring a notebook or sketchpad and a pencil or pen.
Please bring something to sit on as the ground may be damp or muddy.
Youngsters are welcome if they are able to sit quietly either solo or with an adult for more than 30 minutes at a time.
To maximise your and others’ experience, the use of cell phones during the activity is discouraged.
COST: Walk is free, Additional or Recommended Charity Donation for NGO leading the walk.
BRING: Binoculars recommended, Coastal Scenery, Marine and Coastal Interest, Wildlife and Birding Interest, Flowers and Botanical Interest.
EXTRA NOTES: Easy – Mainly flat walking, on paths with good surfaces. No climbing, minimal or no steps. Leisurely – stopping often and taking it slowly.
